T1 - Douglas Fir - fell - roots are causing obstruction and making the construction of a new driveway unviable.

T3 Map A - Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) 6-7m Large limb failure and severe lean into lights. There is also evidence of public climbing. The client is asking permision to fell as its a health and safety hazzard. T44 Map B - Beech (Fagus sylvatica) 20m. Large included fork at 1.5m & large open cavity and rot evident in main stem at 4m. The client is asking permision to reduce height by 6m to 14m to reduce sail effect and tension in the inclusion of the trunk. Remove 4m from the large weight baring limb over public footpath and construction site. Sympathetic reshape of the remaining canopy. T10 Map C - Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) - 10m Decay and rot present from previous wounds - the client is asking permision to remove the dead limb and reshape remaining limb.

No tree pruning or root pruning. As advised by Tree Officer Jason Cox via email on 6th January 2023, this application is for the installation of 14 ground screws within the RPA of T3 &T4 - mature beech trees covered by TPO. An Arboricultural Method Statement is provided to support this application and guide the construction process. The installation of the ground screws has the potential to adversely affect TPO'ed trees, therefore a suitably qualified arboricultural consultant has assessed the proposals, advised on suitable foundations and provided a method statement for the construction of a summerhouse.

The tree in question is the southernmost of the two Copper Beech forming 'G7' from TPO 25/02/SC. It is referenced as 'T001' on the attached drawing 9704. The specimen has been under the supervision of Hayden's Arboricultural Consultants since a rapid decline in the physiological health of the tree was observed in spring 2022. A photo of the tree was captured in August 2022 (attached) which shows the crown with an approx. 50% sparsity/dieback. Since then, the specimen has continued its rapid decline and as now on the cusp of being dead, and very unlikely to come into leaf next year. The cause of the death of the tree is suspected Beech Bark Disease. Cracks in the buttressing and lower stem were noted in August 2022, which resemble those caused by this disease, though no orange/rust fungal growths were observed at the time. The approved construction works allied to this site had not started by August 2022, so it can be confidently stated that the decline of the tree is not related to recent activity around the tree. A replacement Copper Beech tree will be planted in the location shown on drawing 9704.

Works to a tree with a TPO: T26 - Liriodendron tulipifera - remove to ground level - too near the solid historic construction of TCS railings which are potentially compromised. Poor form of tree, attach photo. Historic pruning has been too close to the stem causing several occluded wounds, full and partial.Tree also has leaf curl from sun scorch. replace with a Pyrus calleryana chanticleer
