Reduce by up to 50% the height of all trees along the South-West and North-West boundaries of the property (and trim back the balancing 50% to tidy up). These trees originally would have formed maintained hedging/screening but have been left to overgrow. They are predominantly conifers with a few other species mixed in and growing amongst each other (e.g. laurel and yew). The attached plan indicates the route of the hedge, highlighted green. We will also cut back (to/around the boundary line) branches that are overgrowing the boundary to the North-West. Reduction in height will allow more light into the garden and reduce maintenance issues for neighbours. It will also enable more straightforward regular maintenance on an ongoing basis in future. We may also fell the conifer tree that has grown with a significant lean that was the subject of notification 20/0566/TCA (whilst notified by previous owners, the work was never actually carried out).

Dawyck Beech - Fell to just above ground level - Reason: Inappropriately located in relation to boundary wall and brick outhouse (limited contribution to Conservation Area given rear garden location - no public view). Walnut - Selective canopy reduction by 0.5-2m back to appropriate growth points, maintaining naturalistic canopy form - Reason: to reduce impact on Tudor House and adjacent third-party property The Hayloft, to maintain in reasonable dimensions and reduce the risk of future branch failure.
