Notice of intent to carry out works to trees in a Conservation Area: Front Garden - T1 Willow Tree - Re-polllard to previous points approx 4m reduction. T2 Walnut Tree - reduce by 2-3m overall, crown lift over drive way up to 5m. Rear Garden-Right hand Side T3 Willow Tree - Reduce by 2-3m overall. T4 Willow Tree - Reduce by 3m overall T5 Willow Tree - Reduce lowest branch over the lawn area by half approx. 4-5m. T6 Sycamore Tree - Fell to ground level, Tree is rubbing on fence and will never be a specimen Tree as it struggles for light under the large Weeping Willow which has caused all the growth to be overhanging the Neighbours land. T7 Willow Tree - Reduce by 3-4m overall. Rear Garden - Left Hand Side T8 Apple Tree and T9 Conifer -Fell to ground level as poor specimens tall and thin and covered in Ivy. T10 Cherry Tree - Reduce by 3m overall - to control size of Tree and give good clearance to Village Hall. T11 Cherry Tree - Fell to ground level, Tree is no specimen due to its location under the Larger Cherry Tree, it leans towards the Village Hall and is touching the roof, all growth is over the boundary line. T12 Cherry Tree Reduce by 3-3.5m overall, remove the lowest branch on the Village Hall side back to the trunk. Reduce to control size of Tree, remove branch as an obstruction on the Village Hall side for Vehicles etc. T13 5 Hazel Trees- Reduce to leave at 3m above ground level. T14 Apple Tree - Reduce by 3-4m - Tree has become too dominant in this area by the side of the Garage, reduce to control size and reduce liability risk of limb failure.

T1 Sycamore - Remove low lateral branches over and behind the garage roof to give 1m clearance all round. Raise the low branches over the garden to 5m taking back to main stem including trunk epicormic growth. T2 Hawthorn - Reduce all over by 1m and cut back over hang to boundary line, shape to keep a balanced crown. T3 Maple - Remove x3 low large lateral branches over the clients garden taking back to main stem.

Works to various trees within Harrogate Conservation Area. The schedule of work proposed is as follows: T1 Oak - crown lift to 5 1/2 meters. T2 Plum - remove the branches supporting purple coloured foliage to retain the 'type' green foliage. T3 Silver Birch - crown lift to 5 meters. T4 Silver Birch - reduce back lateral branch spread by 2 meters to boundary to clear the garage roof. T5 Crab Apple - reduce canopy dimensions by 2 meters height and spread to retain 3 meters height and 2-3 meters radial branch spread. T6 Oak - reduce back lateral branch spread by 2 meters to east to retain 3 meters radial spread. T7 Silver Birch - reduce height by 3 meters and reshape retaining 6 meters height and 3 meters radial branch spread . T8 Hazel - coppice to 0.5 meters.

Field Maple (T10-T12) Crown reduce by 2.5m. Crown lift to 3m over parking spaces. Field Maple/Lime (T1,2,3,4,6,7) Crown lift to 3m over the pavement and parking spaces and 4m over the road. Lime (G9) Reduce back the lateral spread by 3m to the boundary line to clear the side elevation of 66 Robertson Drive. Sycamore (G9) Crown lift to 4m all round to clear neighbouring gardens and to remove the limb resting on the adjacent garage roof.

T1 Birch - Reduce in height by 30% and shape, removing 2.5 meters of growth and remove crossing branches. T2 Weeping Birch - Reduce away from garage roof and boundary wall removing 1 meter.

Norway Maple (T1) Prune back overhanging branches to boundary to a height of 2m above garage roof; Lawson Cypress (T2) Fell; Holly, Lawson Cypress, Elder, Laurel and Ivy (G1) Raise crowns to 6m over the carriageway and 3m over the footpath; Firethorn and Holly (G2) Cut back hard, to driveway edge; Lawson cypress (G3) Fell; Lawson cypress, Yew and Mock Orange (G4) Prune to clear fence by 0.5m.

Large Pine tree at front of property - Reduce to ground level. Robinia and Holly - Prune back lower branches overhanging garage roof by approximately 3m. Row of Conifer trees at side of house - Reduce height by 2m and prune sides by 1.5m. Cherry and Hawthorn trees - Prune back by approximately 2m. Row of overgrown Holly trees at rear boundary fence - Reduce height by approx 3m and prune back by 2m. Overgrown Conifer on garden fence line - Dismantle and remove.

Sycamore - by garage - crown lift over garage (3m over garage roof line) Hollies by garage - reduce by half in height (reduce by 5-6m to safeguard the integrity of the garage) Hedgeline - on side boundary - (trim back the face by 0.5-1m and crown lift by 2.5m to facilitate for new planting) Laurel - Cut back and crown lift (by 2m) Yew - Cut back and crown lift (by 2m)

T2 Red Oak - removal of partial branch. T3 and T5 Crab apple and Whitebeam - fell. T12 and T13 x2 Prunus trees fell. Bay - reshape bay outside gates. Lime - raise canopy to provide clearance to roof of gazebo/garden structure of 1m. Hedge cut side of tall conifer hedge alongside house, right hand boundary, section between garage and rear garden.

The tree in question is a silver birch. The tree is now between 15 and 20m tall, located in the middle of the garden. It presents a danger to the house (which is less than 15m away). It also prevents our plans for solar panels on the south facing garage roof to the rear (subject to heritage permission as we are a grade II listed building), and it is far too large for the location it currently occupies. When planted, the tree was at the end of the garden (hence the boundary of the conservation area was set at the end of the original garden. Since then however the garden has been extended, and the tree has grown to a height out of proportion with its location in the garden. Our plan is to replace this tree with two much smaller ornamental cherry trees, which will be kept at the same height as the apple trees on the other side of the path (see photo 3) around 3-5 meters high. We will take down the tree, and use the majority of the canopy for mulch within our garden. Once the root is ground out the new trees will be planted. We have taken advice from Nick Hanks at Greensleeves Estate and Countryside management who has done work on the tree in the past, but taking height out of the tree will leave it misshapen, as its not a species that responds well to having the canopy reduced, and as we would like to fit solar panels over the next couple of years, this work would be a precursor to any solar work being successful. The work to remove the tree will be done by Greensleeves and the timing of the work also agreed with Greensleeves to avoid any sensitive times of year, particularly nesting season.
