Works to trees in a conservation area - T1 Back garden - Yew Tree approx 7.5m - Dead - Remove and roots grubbed out. T2 Front garden - Amelanchier approx 5m - Dead - Remove and roots grubbed out. Plant like for like 1 x Amelanchier Lamarkii to the front and 1 x Yew to the rear (at or adjacent to the dead tree(s)) to comply with a planning condition 20AP3829 and consented landscaping for the new development. The tree(s) should be planted with a minimum stem girth of 14-16cm, within a 1sqm mulched pit with 1 irrigation bags and watered at 25L per week for the first 3 years.

T1- Pine - Remove due to poor specimen which is threatening safety of electric pole due to heavy lean T2 - Pine - Remove major deadwood T3- Beech - Crown raise by approx 1 meter and target prune over extended leaders and laterals on house side to balance crown T4 - Pine - Remove due to poor specimen/ lack of room for a successful crown development. (thin tree out from row) T5 pine - Reduce (bent)main leader to good growth point (by approx. 1.5meters) Remove major deadwood

Ash (T1): Height 13m width 7.2m - To reduce the sparse crown sections by 2.5-3.0m to encourage new growth - To thin by 10% the lower crown to allow for the development of more internal growth over time. Remove deadwood.

1. Horse chestnut avenue - side prune lower canopies that overhang the road back to edge of road and to create clearance of 6m above ground level. Side prune lower canopies that overhang field to retain canopy spread towards field of no less than 3m and to create clearance of 6m above ground level. Reason being to allow access for farm equipment. Thin existing trees by felling selected poorest individuals to provide space for continued development of retained better individuals. No more than half of the existing trees to be removed and with the general aim to retain alternate trees in order to maintain the integrity of the tree lined avenue along the full length of the private drive. Replant with approx. equal numbers of hawthorn, yew and holly at a rate of at least 1 replacement for each tree removed with each to be planted within 3m of stumps of removed trees. Replacement trees will be planted within 12 months should any of the replacement trees die. 2. Leylandii hedge - fell to ground level and replace at same place with mixed native hedgerow using at least 6 woody species planted at 50cm centres in dual staggered rows 50cm apart. 3. Beech - reduce to 2m tall monolith due to colonisation by Meripilus fungus resulting in unacceptable level of risk of whole tree failure onto property or personal harm. Replant with oak or sweet chestnut within 5m of stump. Replacement will be planted within 12 months should the replacement tree die.

Prunus - Reduce crown by approx 1-2m and lift crown over pavement. Hawthorn - Reduce crown by approx 1-2m to contain development and limit shade and debris. Lime - Re-pollard to previous points, approx 1-2m.

REVISED SPECIFICATION TO INCLUDE REPLACEMENT PLANTING Works to trees in a conservation area: T1 and T2. Elder. Fell two Elder trees. Situated in the rear garden. T3 and T4. Apple. Fell two Apple trees. Situated in the rear garden. Replace like for like following development. Reasons: The Apple trees are in the way of the new planned extension. Trees to be replaced like for like. The Elder trees cause too much shade in the garden and make it dark.

T1 - Oak. Fell. In decline. Signs of decay at base. Evidence of dieback throughout crown. Outgrown location given state of health. Replant with copper beach at nearby location. T2 - Yew. Fell. Dead/dying. Very sparse foliage. Dangerous location by car park. Storage area. T3 - Sycamore. Unbalanced crown in area for possible development. Rebalance crown, maintaining height. T4 - pine. Fell. Poor specimen. Zero amenity value. Heavily unbalanced over river.

Trees in a Conservation Area - remove Rowan and Myrobalan Plum Rowan; 8m (Please see accompanying photographs; Dunedin_210723-1 & 2) An early mature Rowan tree stands just over 1m from the boundary wall to its south. This tree is being suppressed by a larger Whitebeam adjacent to it. Since the trees are in such close proximity to each other, the Rowan risks being swamped by its neighbour in due course. There is virtually no crown development on the west & north west sides of the crown currently. There is only adequate space for one tree in this tight location and since the Whitebeam is the dominant and more spreading tree, it would be sensible to pre-empt the Rowan???s demise and remove it now to make room for its neighbour. Myrobalan Plum (Cherry Plum); 7m. (Please see accompanying photographs; Dunedin_210723-3, 4 & 5) This early mature, overgrown tree stands about 2m from the western boundary of the garden. It has been grafted onto alternative rootstock and its imbalanced crown is now leaning to the east by approximately 9??. As is common to the species this specimen is overdense, prone to excessive shooting at its unions and as a result produces a great deal of twiggy deadwood within its crown. Once over-stressed, the species is also susceptible to the presence of fruiting bodies, both within the crown and in proximity to the rootplate; the presence of which will ultimately weaken and overcome the tree once they have taken hold, leading to its rapid decline. Remove tree as a pre-emptive measure.
