One mature pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) is located within the back garden of 79a Dyke Road. This tree has a DBH of 52 and a height of circa 13.5m. Gandoderma applanatum brackets are apparent on the stem of the tree and Collybia Fusipes (Spindle Shank) has been noted at the base of the tree following the rootplates. Both of these fugal infections are known to cause mechanical failure. Due to the proximity of residential properties 79a Dyke Road, 79 Dyke Road and commercial properties Brighton Dental Centre, New tattoo studio and the apparent fungal decay on the tree, it is proposed that the oak tree is monolithed to a height of 5m. This will remove the sail of the crown and reduce the risk of future failure during heavy winds with resultant damage to property. All epicormic growth will also be removed from the stem and the remnant monolith will allow for some ecological and aesthetical benefits to remain.

T2 - Poplar tree Reduce height by approx. 2m and prune lateral crown growth up to 1.5m to shape and balance T3 - Beech Crown reduce and shape by approx. 30% (3m height, up to 2m lateral spread), Crown thin by approx. 25% T4+T5 - Oak Reduce height by up to 2m, prune lateral growth up to 0.5m to shape and balance crown. Reason: To mitigate excessive shade to rear of property and surrounding residential gardens.

To the 3.no. mature Lime trees situated in the rear garden of the property and adjacent to the rear and right hand side boundary wall, crown reduction by 35% to be undertaken by J Williams Tree surgeon of JW Tree and Garden care. This to reduce significant shading to neighbouring residential flats.

T1 Ash - reduce the size of the crown by 2m and and give 2m clearance from buildings either side. T2 Sycamore - reduce the size of the crown by 2m The proposed work is part of a maintenance schedule to keep the trees an appropriate size for their location between two residential buildings.
