Land At Corporation Farm Drunkards Lane Falkenham Ipswich Kirton IP10 0PT
Prior Approval - A balanced cut and fill earthmoving operation to create an irrigation water reservoir. No materials are to be brought to or removed from site. The reservoir will be surrounded by grassed earth banks. Why necessary for agriculture: Approximately 2/3rds of the arable land is light irrigatable land that would benefit from irrigation. The existing irrigation reservoir and abstraction license enables part, but not all of that land to be irrigated and used for irrigatable vegetable crops. The farm is a member of the Felixstowe Hydrocyle project (a collaboration between 6 local farming businesses to utilise excess water from the Kings Fleet for agricultural irrigation on the Felixstowe peninsular) with an allocation of 125,000m3 and requires the new reservoir for the storage of water associated with the project. Why designed for agriculture: The reservoir is adjacent to the new supply pipeline from Felixstowe Ferry pump house and adjacent to the existing underground distribution system serving the farm. High pressure underground pipelines connect take off hydrants in all the irrigable fields.
