They are breathable and flexible lime plasters/renders. Thermalime also includes a mineral which gives it an insulating quality. Chalk is a lighter and more flexible aggregate than sand and is historically accurate, being developed after analysing East anglian historic plasters. The two basecoats will be scratched to providea mechanical key for the subsequent coat and will be lightly dampened when the subsequent coat is ready to be applied. It will be finished with a breathable limewash to maintain vapour permeability approx four weeks after applying the top coat.
