Pin Oak (LHS side of property, close to boundary) - Reduce the height and spread of the tree by up to 2.5m. The lower SE, S & SW (overhanging neighbouring property) laterals have been reduced heavily in the past in an attempt to pull into shape - reduce regrowth back to suitable live growth in line with remaining canopy. All pruning cuts shall be made to suitable secondary growth points and shall maintain a stable platform for the expected regrowth. Remove any major deadwood over 20mm diameter. Suitable access for our tracked MEWP - take boards to protect lawn from track damage. Measurements: Pre works - 26x19m Post works - 23.5x16.5m.

The tree is an aspen, labelled T1 . This tree is around 20m high and has a public footpath and livery stables to one side and a house to the rear, as shown in the attached plan "aspen position". This tree has lost a number of large branches in very windy and stormy weather (as can be seen from the attached photos) and has caused damage to the property behind as well as a period where a branch overhung the stables until we could get someone to deal with it. The branches were found to be diseased explaing why they fell. In summer, when the tree is in full leaf, the branches become very heavy leading to the potential for danger to anyone underneath. It is also unbalanced as a result of the breakage but new growth can be seen below the proposed cutting line (aspen proposed cutting line.jpg). We have contacted the two neighbours most affected by the threat from the tree and they support this. The proposal is to reduce the height by around 40%, encouraging further growth much lower down and reducing the risk of danger to people and property in the area.

T1 Copper Beech Crown reduce the upper canopy by 2 metres (Cut size's no greater than 50mm in diameter) and lower canopy by 3-4 metres (cut size's no greater than 70mm in diameter) to make crown more compact and tighten up low spreading limbs. T1: Horse Chestnut - Crown reduce by up to 3m to previous pruning points. Crown thin 15% to reduce the risk of branch failure at previous reduction points. T2: Silver Birch - Crown reduce over extended lateral branches in top of crown by up to 3m. Reduce lateral branches by up to 1m to reshape. Crown thin 15%, risk management enabling the retention of this tree in a stable form. to allow more light into adjacent property.
