Common Beech tree (Fagus Sylvatica) to west of house (T1 on plan) has grown vigorously to the south east and now overlaps the house with branches in contact with the house roof. Tree to be trimmed by up to 2.4m to maintain adequate clearance from the property and to reduce the drip line from the roof. Work is to protect both the tree and the house from damage due to contact.

T1 Yew - Remove lower growth on tree that is extended towards barn. This to include removal of 4 low limbs. The remaining growth extended across towards barn is to be reduced by around 1.5 meters to give a more upright balanced shape to the tree with around 4 meters clearance over ground on the barn side. This work is in order to improve the overall balance and form of the tree which currently has a very one sided crown shape, biassed towards the adjacent barn. The work is also to improve access on the drive and to give better clearance from the barn roof. T2 Copper Beech - Crown reduce by around 1.5 meters in height and spread to a well balanced, more compact tree with reduced sail area. Remove all major dead wood and sever Ivy at base of tree. This tree is infected with Kretzschmaria deusta and hence there will be an increased risk of failure. The reduction work specified will reduce the sail area and lessen the risk of failure without compromising the visual appeal of the tree. This tree is now showing signs of decline with a sparser than average foliage density and die-back of some branches.

T1 : Willow. Removal to ground level . Tree is dead. T2-T3: Maple. Reduce majority of crown to historic wounds ( 2-3m) to create a smaller balanced crown ( please see image 2) . Reduce lateral spread over neighbouring boundary to approx 1 m beyond historic wounds ( 3-4m) . This is to minimise the growth over the roof and against house. ( Please see image 3)

Silver birch (listed in TPO as T1) to front of Scout Hut, 71 High Street Crown lift and reduction to give 2m clearance from building only The purpose of the work is to avoid the branches touching the building and possibly causing damage to the roof and/ or power cable

T1 Beech: Crown lift to provide clearance of 1.8 metres from roof and front facade of house + clearance of 2.2 metres above ground level (all branches to be removed shall be sub-50mm diameter)

The Sycamore tree, shown as T1 on the attached site plan, was the subject of a previous application in 2013 to reduce the crown because of fears that the tree was in close proximity of the Old Mill, a grade 2 listed building and could damage the building fabric. The tree sits on the bank of a raised former mill dam and has a large number of exposed roots. A full arboriculturist and engineering report was provided to support this application. At the time, the view of the Heritage officer, Julia Foster, was to remove the tree if it presented any further risk to the building. We were reluctant to remove the tree and chose to follow the pollarding route. This was approved and works subsequently undertaken by Pat Kernan, tree surgeon. Recent history The tree, being located on the bank of the millstream, has grown considerably in size. The roots are exposed and the recent high winds showed the tree moving significantly in the wind. It is not beyond bounds that then tree could be ripped up at its roots and topple on the listed building or neighbours buildings at Paradise House. It now presents an even greater risk to the listed building, as shown below. On Monday the 29th of June 2021 at approximately 3 pm in the afternoon, major damage resulted from a large branch blown down from a protected sycamore tree on the western boundary of the property which struck the south-west corner of the building, damaging the roof, dislodging the top of a dormer window, tearing off the gutters and their brackets and knocking down a twin wall stove flue attached to the building. Damage has been done to the brickwork where the flue brackets were ripped off. This resulted in over ??8,000 worth of damage We now wish to either remove the tree or significantly reduce the height of the tree to say four metres.

Removal of 3 Birch trees due to overhanging roof, blocking sunlight and being too tall for house insurance.

Lift , reduce and remove various low level limbs from 3x Horse Chestnut behind garage block to both clear garage roof and minimise risk of failure over footpath. Remove lowest lateral limb of middle Horse Chestnut growing over garage block. Remove dead wood over 10mm in diameter from 3x Horse Chestnut and 2x Lime.

Lime tree 52200-705. TPO Tree 1999 No 12 Crown reduction to clear aerial and roof by 3m to previous points. To prevent damage. Last done in 2007

T1 Acer pseudoplatanus purpurea- Reduce height and lateral spread by 1.2m, reduce individual over extended limb from roof by 1.8m T2 Acer pseudoplatanus purpurea- Reduce height and lateral spread by 1.5m Works are to maintain both trees to an acceptable height and spread befitting a small garden and to prevent the likelihood interference with the adjacent highway.
