Large sycamore tree right in front of the house next to fence bordering Elmsdown. The tree has outgrown its location despite previous pollarding and now needs felling. The tree encroaches on neighbours property and blocks all light to both houses when in full leaf. We intend to landscape the front garden and will replace with more suitable decorative trees.

I have 5 Leylandii trees at the front of my property we would like to have permission to remove reasons being: 1... We have had previous subsidence on our property , from a neighbouring Leylandii in 2004, 3.5 metres away from our property. The tree was removed and subsidence resolved. 2... The 5 trees we would like to remove are now causing the following issues for us. (a) There are a number of large roots growing across the top of the ground and just under the ground very close to our property. They have lifted our patio area just outside our front door. Which we have now just replaced. We are very worried these trees are going to cause further subsidence to our property. The trees are very large and so close to our house. The closest tree being just 3.5 meters away from the house, with a circumference of 2.8 meters. The estimate height of the trees being taller than a two storey house. (b) ..The trees are cutting out the neighbour's and our light. (c)...The trees are restricting and damaging larger vehicles travelling down the lane. (d)...It is becoming more difficult for us to get house insurance to cover subsidence due to the location of the trees. 3...Once the trees are removed, we would like to put up a 6ft tall closeboard Fence for security and in keeping with what the neighbours in the lane already have. We would then plant a hedge in front of the fence by the lane side for greenery for wildlife. tree 1. Ref 1 - Chestnut - Request to Remove - Tree Surgeon has advised that this tree has been allowed to grow too large for its location and is now casting a large shadow over the neighbours house. Ref 2 - Common Ash - Request to Remove - Tree Surgeon has advised that this tree was pollarded by previous owners and is now showing signs of rot and is very brittle. A large branch was found in the garden when we moved in in Sept 2022 very near the neighbours garage. Others branches are splintering. Ref 3 - Common Ash - Request to Remove - This tree has been planted on top of a mound of earth and allowed to grow slanted. This tree is now leaning towards the fence and neighbours garage. Concerned that this will cause damage in future.

4 large Conifer trees labelled 1-4 on the sketch plan. The plan is to remove them down to ground level . They are blocking significant amounts of light and are disrupting the driveway of Andway Cottage, two nearby fences and the shed of 3 Paynes Meadow. They appear to be the only conifer trees on 3 Paynes Meadow and Andway Cottage properties; other trees nearby on Pyotts Hill all appear to be deciduous so they seem out of place in comparison. See conifer tree photos document. 1 Hazel tree (tree 5) & 4 Beech trees - labelled 6-9 on the sketch plan. The plan is to remove them down to ground level. They are very close to the house, less than a meter, and are blocking significant amounts of light and overhanging the roof of Andway Cottage contributing to moss growth on the roof and blocked gutters. Fell four over-crowded, over-grown Sycamore (T1-T4 on plan) and replace with similar number of of native broadleaf species. The trees touch buildings & cause excessive shading to Waltham Court. One large tree from the group has already fallen in recent winds crashing through the fence into Shire House. The trees pose a threat to neighbouring residents and users of London Road public car park.

For identification and location of the trees, please see enclosed document - Proposed Tree Works Sketch - Hill Top House. The trees are all self-seeded saplings (Ash) in an existing hedge. In early February 2022, the hedge will be professionally laid (South of England style) by a local professional hedge layer. On pre-examination of the hedge, it was identified that 4 self-seeded Ash saplings (T1, T2, T3, T4) that are expected to be cut as part of the laying process have trunk diameters 10cm, 9cm, 10cm and 12cm respectively at 1.5m above ground level. It is proposed to partly cut these 4 saplings close to ground level and lay them over as pleachers for the laid hedge. Any gaps in the laid hedge will be filled with new native hedgerow bare root whips. 50 whips have been purchased for this and are heeled-in ready to be planted. A fifth self-seeded Ash sampling (T5 @ 15cm dia.) is growing just outside the hedge line, through, and damaging, the existing boundary fence. It is proposed to fell this sapling, which has low amenity value, completely. The laid, and filled, hedge will rejuvenate and will represent a much better habitat for wildlife than the hedge currently. Once rejuvenated, it will also look much better from the both the highway and house sides. It will also be lower than currently and will reduce overshadowing of Hill Top House. Please note, on site, the trees in question have had blue taped wrapped around them.

- Fell one eucalyptus tree in front garden, growing at a dangerous angle and signs of basil decay. - Crown lift and cut back to boundary four ash trees on east side of house, these are currently overhanging the boundary fence and to reduce the chance of squirrels getting onto roof and subsequently causing damage in loft space. - On roadside crown lift group of hazel and maple to 5.5 metres which are encroaching on the lane and to trim back away from electricity cables. - On roadside remove one limb from one ash tree which is over hanging garage.
