The subject tree is very large for its location and has been historically pruned keep it at a suitable size. It is located on a boundary fence in close proximity to two properties. Its future growth requirements will again conflict with the buildings and remedial works will again inevitably be required. The suggested works will ensure the tree is retained at a suitable size for its location and prevent future problems. It's shape and balance will also be improved, enhancing its aesthetical value in years to come.

Removal of two laurel bushes on the boundary between the rear garden of 9 Withdean Rise and the woodland WI TPO 2010/18. These bushes are causing property damage, as confirmed by the arboriculturist from Brighton & Hove Council, Paul Davey, and need to be removed to enable the fence to be replaced. The fence needs to be urgently replaced as it has been damaged by storms and is currently largely being supported by the laurel bushes and undergrowth General pruning along the fence line of other undergrowth and overhanging vegetation

1. There is a yew tree (T14) between our house at 18 Hazeldene Meads and the adjacent property at 16 Hazeldene Meads. It is now overgrown and is almost touching the two houses. We are concerned about the roots affecting the property at 16 Hazeldene Meads where the property was recently extended to become close to the boundary fence. At 18 Hazeldene Meads, it is affecting the light into our property and will encroach onto the roof and cause damage if allowed to grow. T14 Yew - Reduce in height by approx. 2m so that the top of the tree is at the same level as the adjacent gutter of 18 Hazeldene meads. Prune the sides of the tree to give 1m clearance of the properties on either side. T15 Silver Birch - Reduce the size of the crown by a maximum of 1.5m and remove dead wood.

The suggested works will prevent any damage caused by further growth and movement of tree branches. Boundary Fence G3 - 3 x Sycamore & 1 x Bay Cut back as close as possible to the bounday and stack on the other side of the fence The group of trees overhanging from the neighbouring property are causing light loss and nuisance to the residents. The suggested works will prevent any continuing problems.

Total for Above Work Please note: Upon inspection it would appear that G3 is located in Hove Park and therefore owned by the council. Any work to this tree will not be able to go ahead unless there has been permission granted by the council. The specified works are apart of an on going maintenance plan to keep the subject trees to s suitable size for the grounds of the flats. If left unattended they will outgrow their environment and cause stress and apprehension. The proposal is unlikely to have an adverse impact either on the health of the tree or the character and amenities of the local area.

TPO No. 12 Order 2005 - Trees T7 to T22 on TPO map G1 on our drawing - Ash and Sycamore group - remove basal growth and crown lift over the car park to approximately 3.0 metres above ground level (by no more than 2.5 metres) , reduce all lateral growth over the car park back to the boundary fence by no more than 2.0 metres. T1 on our drawing - 1 No. Elm - remove 2 low lateral limbs over the car park back to the main stem, reduce the remaining crown over the car park by approximately 2.0 metres. T2 on our drawing - 1 No. Elm - crown raise to approximately 5 metres above ground level (by no more than 3 metres) and remove deadwood To abate nuisance from overhanging vegetation and to clear car park.

T3 - Quercus Ilex - This tree has a lean of 45 degrees. Moves heavily in the wind. gives no light to the garden. In the event if it were to fall, there would be damages to the decking and fencing. Mr Battersby is very worried about this tree falling due to its angle at growth. Permission was given to take down the tree, next to it which had far less lean. Mr Battersby says the worry of it falling keeps him awake at night. We prepose to have the tree removed.
