The tree is a laurel. The main reason for wanting to prune the tree is because it is greatly overhanging the property to the right and to some extent the property behind. At its current height and width it is blocking light from the first, ground and lower ground floor flats at 34 and 36 and may also be blocking light from the property behind. The objective therefore is to remove the branches which are overhanging the properties and to improve the light to these properties. The laurel has a main trunk and a secondary trunk. The secondary trunk has grown out at an angle with the result that most of the secondary trunk is overhanging the neighbour's garden at 34 Lansdowne street. Branches off the main trunk have grown over the wall to the rear of the GFF at 36 and are overhanging the property to the rear. I am intending to remove the secondary trunk completely to remove the branches of the tree overhanging the property to the right. I am also intending general crown reduction to remove the branches of the main trunk which are overhanging the property to the rear and to reduce the height and spread. At a rough estimate the tree may be 40 feet high and I would be proposing to reduce the height/spread by 8-10 feet I have had 2 speciaist contractors look at the job but have not got a firm contract to progress the work subject to this application being submitted

Trim outside face of the hedge back by 0.5m (1ft away from the wall) Reduce the height by 2.5m (height of the top of the ivy), chamfer the edge on top. Neighbours Section of Hedge H2 - Mixed Hedge Cut back side by 1 metre and follow line round. Trim outside face of the hedge back by 0.5m (1ft away from the wall) Reduce the height by 2.5m (height of the top of the ivy), chamfer the edge on top. H2 is a mixed hedge consisting of privet and box. It runs around the eastern perimeter of 121s ground floor flats gardens. It is approximately 3.5m high and too large for the residents to manage. The suggested works will not be detrimental to the tree nor affect its amenity value, it will however alleviate these problems, which will only increase if not addressed. If left unattended they will outgrow their environment and cause stress and apprehension.
