Our Ref: 213340 Statement of Reasons for Tree Preservation Order Application to fell and treat Oak trees (T1, T2, T3) at: Land adjacent to 8 Greystone Close, Redditch, B98 9HU TPO Ref: 1965 / 93/00004/TPO 1. The above tree works are proposed as a remedy to the differential foundation movement at the insured property and to ensure the long-term stability of the building. 2. The above tree works are proposed to limit the extent and need for expensive and disruptive engineering repair works at the insured property. In this instance the estimated repair costs are likely to vary between ??25,000 and ??105,000, depending upon whether the tree/s can be removed or must remain. 3. The above tree works are proposed to limit the extent and need for costly CO2e emissions relating to alternative engineering repair works at the insured property. A typical underpinning scheme can include a carbon cost of more than 6000 kg CO2e and soil stabilisation or root barriers more than 4000 kg CO2e. A typical tree might capture between 15-40kg CO2e per annum and would therefore take centuries to mitigate the cost in CO2e on any alternative. We also confirm that the applicant has included this scheme and application in its tree planting and carbon capture off-set scheme for trees causing subsidence to low rise buildings which has already seen some 11,000 trees planted and additionally 220 tonnes of carbon captured. 3. The tree is 1 of 4 Oak trees in G.2, situated on the driveway of 257 Walkwood Road, B97 5NU. Applying for permission have the tree felled to the ground. This is due to believing the tree is diseased, it is covered in ivy and the parts of the tree I can see do not look healthy and there is concern of this potentially causing damage to the property in future, either by parts falling down or damage due to the roots. I do not wish to plant a replacement tree, to provide sufficient clearance to the property and to allow being able to park 2 cars on the drive.

I am seeking permission to fell the oak tree in the front garden of 35 Shawhurst Lane Hollywood Birmingham B47 5HL and would be more than happy to replant appropriate tree for the size of the front garden. The reasoning for seeking this permission is as follows - The tree is 8.5 metres from the property and we understand that a safe distance is should really be 30 metres for the size of the tree. It is now causing the footpath to bulge and the tree is listing towards the road. The footfall is frequent as there are 2 schools in the vicinity on the same road. Its canopy is now overhanging the highway footpath and getting closer to the property and the neightbours property. The tree is on a slight bend and the road is frequently used by school buses public buses lorries as a rabbit run to nearby Shirley Solihull and Redditch. The heavy fall of acorns in the Autumn leaves a large amount on the footpath and road and this causes problems when people are walking. Telecom cables which go through the canopy of the tree feed this property and adjascent properties eitherside. I have had to speak to the insurers to establish that the tree is fully insured should it fall onto the property. I have noticed there is a large amount of crossing branches and dead wood. Please note this house has been in my family since it was built in 1966 so I am fully aware of how big and potentially dangerous the tree has now become and is overtaking the highway and houses.

T1 oak in left hand hedgerow on alley way to the left of the house, customer wants reduction away from driveway and property and any branches rubbing bt wires removing,

T1 Small leaf maple located in hedgerow at rear of property on marlpit lane fell tree to hedge height, tree has multi stems one of which has a large wound out customer is worried it may fail and damage his property. Applicant is unaware of ownership as its growing at the rear of his boundary on public land

T1 Large oak tree located at rear of property running alongside icknield st drive, T1 has been heavily reduced on one side historically, the customer requested for new growth that has formed to be reduced back again however the tree is currently very unbalanced so could do with an overall reduction to rebalance its crown.

2 Large Cedar Trees in front garden of 164A Easemore Road have been losing large branches over public space and require a 30 percent crown reduction and dead wooding.

The cedar is the only tree at the front of the property at the address (7 Newfield Road, Hagley, DY9 0JP). Some limbs of the tree cross the path of the telephone line to the property next door. I am concerned that windy weather may cause the limbs to bring down the telephone line. Therefore, I would like the spread of the tree to be limited and also the height. There is also evidence that the roots of the tree are starting to undermine the drive in two places. I contacted BDC and received confirmation of the existence of a TPO on the tree from Tarek Ball on 26 September 2022. I have consulted a tree surgeon, James Green of Green Tree Care Limited (Tel: 01384 359446 Mob: 07779 800717), who has advised me on the proposed works.

T1 - Lime - Fell and replace with another suitable species. Reason - poor specimen, will outgrow the position.

All trees are from within G5 of TPO (1) 1976. Proposed tree works are for general management and to provide clearance from the houses on Hagley Grange. T1. Oak Quercus robur. Reduce crown over driveway leaving approximately 5m of crown at appropriate pruning points. Also a reduction in height to form a domed crown form. T2. Walnut, Juglans regia. Poor Union at 2m on the northern leader. Pollard to 5m throughout the crown to reduce weight and allow for better management in the future. T3 London plane Platanus x hispanica. Sever ivy at ground level and clear from stem to 1m. Pollard tree at approximately 9m for clearance and better future management. Reduce western leader to for a balanced crown form. T4 Common Lime Tilia ? europaea Pollard back to previous pruning points at approximately 9m from ground level.
