T1 Horse Chestnut (TPO 0008 (1969) T1 - Horse Chestnut Remove to ground level - This tree has finally lost its battle with Ganoderma Fungus. There is clear evidence of this in the hollows at the base of the tree (photo2), where large amounts of soft tissue and white fungus is visible. Upon inspection, it is possible to probe a metal spike right through the heart of the tree. That it is still standing it a miracle. Fruiting bodies cover the base of the truck and extend upwards for several meters. Bark is cracking and peeling away on the larger bows and increment strips are visible on the main stem. Several smaller branches have been shed in the past few weeks, landing on the driveway. The Tree is has mostly defoliated and is also now exhibiting a very large hazard beam at the top of the crown (photo1). If this hazard beam (3rd of Crown) fails it will cause massive damage to the beautiful Beech tree next to it, and potentially threaten life as it just over the drive. Since Friday 2nd last week this crack has got bigger, and is moving in a cupboard door fashion in the wind. Request removal to near ground level. To be replaced with x3 native broad leafed species in a different location.

T.1 Sycamore - Fell to ground level to extend car park. Tree has been pruned to clear BT lines and is now unbalanced T.2 Plum - Fell to ground level

T1 and T2 - These 2 Mature Yew tree have grown together as 1 crown. They are in good health. They are however encroaching on the neighbours property, interfering with their roof and light. and the neighbours have requested the Yews are cut back. The owners of No.33 have also been granted planning permission for an extension on their barn. A 1.5m clearance from this new building is required. T3 - Hawthorn - This small old tree exhibits a heavy lean and rot at the base. request removal. To be replaced with 2 native Broad leafed species.

Sycamore - 1) Lifting - removal of some of the tertiary growth at the lower outer edges of the canopy (NOT removal of lower branches). Taking the weight off tertiary growth has the effect of allowing these thin branches to lift. 2) Removal of some of the thinner, spindly internal crossing branches to make the canopy more airy - but NOT removal of the major branches. The tree should be able to heal these smaller wounds. 3) Trimming extended laterals - by that I mean taking off outer sections of the canopy which extend beyond the average circumference of the main canopy. 4) All of this work I would therefore propose for a 4.5 metre reduction across the circumference of the tree.

A1 : Cultivated apple (Malus domestica). Restoration of ~6m high tree. Remove verticals and thin laterals on apple tree. Remove higher branches to allow accessible cropping S1 : Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). Remove water shoots/suckers and tidy-up around base of ~30m high tree. Y1 : Common Yew (Taxus baccata). Reshape tree for better light and aesthetics. Remove laterals below approximately 2.2 m to reveal mainstem. Narrow and reshape crown by shortening and/or removing laterals which extend beyond approximately 2m radius of mainstem. E1 : Elder (Sambucus nigra) - Fell ~3m high self-set tree-as-weed which has low amenity value and which currently impinges on nearby ~20m high sycamore E2 : Elder (Sambucus nigra) - Fell ~4m high self-set tree-as-weed which has low amenity value and which impinges on nearby ~20m high sycamore E3 : Elder (Sambucus nigra) - Fell ~3m high self-set tree-as-weed which has low amenity value and which occupies an area to be used for new produce garden & orchard E4 : Elder (Sambucus nigra) - Fell ~4m high self-set tree-as-weed which has low amenity value and which occupies an area to be used for new produce garden & orchard

T1 - PLUM - Fell T2 - LEYLAND CYPRESS - Crown lift to 2m above roof of single storey extension T3 - LABURNUM - Crown lift/reduce to clear adjacent roof by 1m

Felling of Honey Locust Tree very close (17cm) to boundary of neighbouring property: The tree has grown to a substantial height (approximately 14m) and width (approximately 8m) and is causing damage to a neighbouring property. The tree has been through a growth phase this year and the roots of the tree have pushed up and damaged disrupted the outdoor paving at 2 The Maltings, High Street, Chesterton. There is an additional potential threat to the structural integrity of 2 The Maltings with the edge of the trunk being only 2.42m away from the kitchen wall of the property - the honey locust tree canopy has increased this year and grown over the roof of 2 The Maltings - root growth from the tree is likely to further extend towards the property risking further damage. This application seeks permission to fully remove this tree. The removal of the tree has been granted under a separate planning permission relating to 29 High Street, Chesterton, Cambridge CB4 1NQ (21/00537/FUL) - however it may be some time before this development is built out, and due to the tree causing damage to the neighbouring property this application seeks to remove it as soon as possible.

Conifer (T1) To fell due to growing under an Ash and obstructing light into approved planning permission extension. Low amenity value. Ash (T2) Crown raise on south facing side up to a maximum of 6 meters high to allow access for building works and light into the approved extension. Western Red (T3) To fell to give more access into garden and for better access for building works. Low amenity value. Willow (T4) To fell to give more light into garden and to remove the risk of subsidence to newly approved extension. Also roots will possibly be disturbed due to foundations being built, causing the Willow tree's health to decline and increase the risk of a parasitical fungal infection, such as Honey Fungus. Ash hedge (T5-T13) to re pollard by 3 meters to maintain hedge. The finished height of the hedge will be 1.2 metres height.

T1 - 7 x LAWSON CYPRESS - Fell - Shading house subsidence on single storey extension. T2 - PINUS - Fell - 95% yellow needles. T3 - LAWSON CYPRESS GROUP - Fell - 70% die back. T4 - WESTERN RED CEDAR - Fell 70% die back. T5 - 14 X MIXED SIZE LEYLAND CYPRESS - Fell - Coryneum Canker present.

TPO 0002 (1953) G3: T1 Mature Chestnut tree to be removed (Tree was adjudged to be of very poor quality and the Tree Inspector has recommended that the tree should be removed. See pictures of cavity.) T3 Horse Chestnut to crown lift to give 5m clearance above ground level to alleviate excessive shading and remove interference with property extension.
