209 New Barn Lane Cheltenham Gloucestershire GL52 3LR
The Indian Bean tree in the garden of my house at 209 New Barn Lane was planted shortly after we bought the property, as a previous tree with a TPO (Walnut) had been felled by the previous owner because of disease. This became apparent during our purchase of the house and we agreed to plant a replacement. After discussions with the tree officer at Cheltenham Borough Council, it was agreed that an Indian Bean would be a suitable replacement as this would not be vulnerable to the honey fungus that caused the issues with the Walnut tree. Unfortunately the Indian Bean has proved unsuitable for our garden. It produces very large leaves which often cause branches to be blown off in high winds and the branches are now causing significant issues with the hair salon next door, as well as the overhanging branches on to the road behind (Linden Avenue). It is clear that this tree is unsuitable for the space available and it is only going to get bigger over time. We would like to replace this tree with something more suitable to the space available.
