The City of London Corporation has received a request for an EIA Scoping Opinion under regulation 15 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 for the redevelopment of a site including 1 Undershaft. The proposals involve the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a ground plus 74 storey building for office use (Class E, up to approximately 109,980m²), retail, and food and beverage facilities (Use Class E, up to approximately 2,590m²) viewing gallery and education spaces (up to approximately 2,450m²). Plus, the provision of a new servicing access and public realm and highways alterations including the provision of raised publicly accessible podium at level 10.

(i) External alterations and extension to ground floor of existing retail unit (within use class 'E' cafe/restaurant and 'sui generis' drinking establishment), including the construction of external canopy and terrace to first floor of unit (46sq.m); and (ii) Provision of covered visitor canopy to western side of tower.
