The City of London Corporation has received a request for an EIA Scoping Opinion under regulation 15 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 for the redevelopment of a site including the Museum of London Rotunda and Bastion House, 140 - 150 London Wall. The proposed development comprises demolition of the existing buildings and erection of three new buildings for office, culture, community and retail uses; formation of new basement areas; reconfiguration of the existing gyratory; reconfiguration of the access/egress arrangements for London Wall Car Park; removal of existing areas of the highwalk and formation of new areas of highwalk and the provision of new public realm and landscaping (ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RECEIVED).

Demolition of the existing building at 1-6 Holborn Circus (known as Thavies Inn House) and the erection of a ten storey Class E building for office use with Class E retail use at part ground floor level with works to include reinstatement and new pedestrian routes through the site; hard and soft landscaping works including removal and replacement trees within the public highway, and creation of pocket park in Thavies Inn; widening of the footway on St Andrew Street; and other works incidental to the proposed development.

Demolition of 99-101 Waterloo Road, 103-107 Waterloo Road, 124 and 126 Cornwall Road and redevelopment for a new office building (Class E g) and flexible ancillary uses (Class E a, b) together with the refurbishment of 109-119 Waterloo Road (Mercury House) for Class E a, b, and g uses, and works to the public highway, public realm, new landscaping, ancillary and enabling works, plant and equipment.

Demolition of the existing building at 55 Basinghall Street (known as City Place House) and the erection of a thirteen storey Class E building for commercial, business and service use with Class E retail use at ground floor level with works to include partial removal, re-alignment and reinstatement of existing walkways; partial demolition, reconfiguration and refurbishment of the basement, lower ground, ground and mezzanine floors of 40 Basinghall Street (known as City Tower) for Class E commercial, business and service and retail use works to include the provision of a new lift and staircase between street and Highwalk level and reconfiguration and re landscaping of the existing first floor terrace area; formation of a new pedestrian route between London Wall and Basinghall Street; hard and soft landscaping works including alterations to and within the public highway; other works incidental to the proposed development.

a) Demolition of existing buildings, comprising 69-71 Fleet Street, 72-78 Fleet Street (Chronicle House), 80-81 Fleet Street, 8 Salisbury Court, 1 Salisbury Square, 35 Whitefriars Street (Hack and Hop public house), 36-38 Whitefriars Street, and 2-6 Salisbury Square (Fleetbank House); b) Part demolition of 2-7 Salisbury Court (Grade II) and carrying out of works including remodelling at roof level, formation of new facade to south elevation, part new facade to west elevation and new core and part new floors. Part replacement fenestration, new plant and other works associated with change of use to drinking establishment with expanded food provision (sui generis); c) Erection of three new buildings: 1). A combined court building (Class F1), 2). A police headquarters building (sui generis), and 3). A commercial building including offices, retail and cycle hub (Class E); d) Creation of shared basement for emergency response vehicles, parking, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), and ancillary functions associated with the three new buildings, with ingress and egress from Whitefriars Street; e) Public realm and highway works, including enlarged Salisbury Square, landscaping, access and servicing arrangements, new pedestrian routes, hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) measures, and bicycle and vehicle parking; f) Dismantling, relocation and reconstruction of Grade II listed Waithman obelisk within Salisbury Square; g) Other associated and ancillary works and structures. This application has been submitted alongside two applications for listed building consent (20/00996/LBC and 20/00998/LBC).
