See schedule tree survey - T1 Wild cherry - Situated on the boundary of the castle and at the entrance of Pettitree Cottage (the tree is owned by English heritage). The tree has grown over the driveway/entrance to Petistree Cottage and is in danger of becoming damaged by vehicles entering the site. The crown of the tree has also become congested with some crossing branches. Proposed work- reduce and reshape the crown (see image - Wild Cherry), remove any dead, damaged or dying wood. lightly thin the crown where appropriate. lift the crown over the driveway to avoid damage to overhanging branches. T4- Copper Beech - This tree has been pollarded in the past and now would benefit from being reduced again to avoid the new build and any damage that may accrue during construction. Proposed work - Reduce and reshape the crown to suitable active growth points near to where the tree was been previously reduced ( See images - Copper beech 1 & 2). Remove any dead, dying, damaged wood. Thin and lift the crown where appropriate.
