Increase the height of the roof to give more height inside the loft. This will be achieved by removing the existing roof tiles, battens, membrane and trusses. These will then be replaced by new attic trusses, a breathable membrane, battens and similar tiles to the original. It will be necessary to build up the gable end walls due to the increased ridge height of the roof. This will be done by using similar bricks to the original. We are proposing to put one attic window in the roof at the rear of the property and two at the front. These windows should be 55mm wide x 78mm high. The existing trusses have a maximum height of 1676mm from base to highest point. The new trusses will be 3900mm from the base to the highest point. The new pitch of the roof would be about 42 degrees whereas the existing pitch is about 24 degrees. The proposal is for the space to be used as a loft with potential for a room, stairs etc at a later stage subject to new planning. Access will be through existing loft hatch.
