The planning application after professional advice seeks a 40% crown reduction. More particularly the application seeks cutting back to the main stem which would result in cutting back outer new growth to reduce the spread of the tree from 16m to 11m and the height from 14m to 10m. The shape is intended to be maintained in proportion but extensive growth in the last 5 years requires cutting back for essential tree management.
