21/01139/TCA | Works to trees in Conservation Area

10 Princess Street Scarborough North Yorkshire YO11 1QR

Felling of 1no. Eucalyptus tree Removal of tree due to inappropriate location of this non native tree in a small back garden. This tree was planted by previous owner and as a fast growing species of tree the tree is now taller than the 4 storey house and wider than the garden, over hanging both neighbouring gardens. The tree is causing damage to the neighbouring property garden and has buckled the fence. The properties surrounding the tree are listed and the tree size presents a real risk to damage of the properties when high winds create significant movement in the tree branches. The tree species is highly flammable and if it were to catch fire, the proximity to surrounding houses may result in substantial damage. The location of the tree has caused distress to neighbours on both Princess Street and St Mary's Street, as the tree and root encroach on their properties and have impacted negatively on light in their gardens. The tree covers two thirds of the garden and prevents any ability to grow anything else as the garden is totally in shade.
