Six semi-mature Silver Birch trees approximately 7.5m to 9m in height, situated on the bottom boundary of the rear garden. The trees are a little dense and wide spreading. Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood, lifting low branches, and trimming back from the roof of the adjacent building. Two trees in either corner of the rear garden to be removed. Southwark has previously approved removal of five trees - reference 16/AP/1306. At that time we actually only removed two. We now need to remove up to a further two trees, owing to the density of their growth and the overhang onto a neighbouring building. The remaining trees will be thinned as necessary. The trees are not subject to TPOs. The Dulwich Estate has viewed the site and issued a licence (on 1 July 2020) for the work.

A Field Maple tree (T1) approximately 9m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary of the rear garden at Herne Hill United Reformed Church, adjacent to the fence with the car park off Red Post Hill. -Crown to be thinned by 30% including the removal of dead wood; -Crown to be reduced by 2.5m whilst retaining the basic shape of the tree; -Branches to be pruned at convenient growth points. The tree currently overshadows PV panels on the roof of the church, reducing energy generated by approximately 15%. The reduction and removal of dead wood will preserve the tree whilst promoting the generation of renewable energy, helping Southwark to meet its climate emergency targets.
