DC/085613 | Works To Trees Covered By A TPO

36 Nursery Road Heaton Norris Stockport Stockport SK4 2NE

Hi, we aim to remove the tree at the rear right hand side of the garden. We have just recently moved into the property and it is clear to us that when fully covered with leaves the tree covers the garden of light through the morning and early afternoon. The tree is also pushing our fence line at the back of the property. We would also like to direct a bike/shed/green house/vegetable patch at the rear of our garden.

Permission sort for felling of a mature Beech Tree. The tree is the only one in the rear garden of the property and is at the location shown on the sketch plan. The tree causes excessive shading, nuisance and potential dangers to the elderly owners/ occupiers. The problems and reasons permission sought itemised below:- i) large number of leaves shed in the Autumn causing difficulties for the elderly residents to constantly clear up. ii) leaves become wet and cause slip hazard iii) the tree roots have grown above the height of the surrounding ground level, has lifted flags and generally makes the patio uneven causing risk of falling for the elderly residents. iv) The lady of the house suffers with Parkinsons disease and is unsteady on her feet and prone to falling. Her elderly husband also has had major surgery and is unsteady on his feet. The uneven ground increases their risk of falling. v) The tree is located at the rear of the property and is only visible to the owners and the occupiers of the property at the rear. The tree causes nuisance to the owners and neighbours due to excessive shading and the large number of leafs shed in Autumn. The tree is of low amenity value and not desired by those who are directly affected. vi) A tree surgeon who was working close by has quoted for removal of the tree and whilst no official reports obtained, there was suggestion that a large section of vertical damage to the trunk of the tree where missing bark is visible, could be disease. vii) There are no plans to replant. TPO#: 7W, TPO#: 199W.
