We have x1 large london plane and X1 sycamore in the rear garden that we are looking to reduce. The plane tree have become really overgrown and are now approaching over near the house roof as well has taking a lot of light of the harden and next doors garden. The sycamore is blocking a lot of light also, as well as overhanging the highway and close the a street lamp. Crown lift to 5m, reduce in height by 4m and take 2m of the side, including complete removal of large branch hanging over the road. The tree has not been cut in over 13 years. Branches are dangerously close to the house resulting in loss of light and moss build up on the roof. The tree also overhangs the road could be dangerous to vehicles & pedestrians in high winds. Horse Chestnut (G1); Proposed work: partial crown reduction. The overall height of the crown is not planned to be reduced. The proposal is for reducing the spread of the crown on our side of the garden by removing some of the thin (not major) branches. Such branches (to be removed) are not expected to exceed 2 - 3 metres in length, with many of the branches proposed to be reduced much shorter than this. Therefore, even at the widest parts of the crown, we estimate a maximum of 2.5 metres of the spread will be reduced. At thinner parts of the crown, we estimate the reduction of the spread to be smaller, at 1 - 1.5 metres or below. Reasons for the work: the tree's crown is extending very far into our garden, getting very close to touching our roof/ guttering and is indeed even taller than our house.
