DC/089599 | Works To Trees Covered By A TPO

59 Queensway Heald Green Cheadle Stockport SK8 3ET

Works to a sycamore tree with a TPO. To formally request permission for the necessary tree works to be carried out on the sycamore tree located adjacent to the property at 59 Queensway. This application is made with careful consideration of the tree's protected status, concerns related to people's safety and the environmental impact. Given the situation's urgency, a certified arborist evaluated the tree's condition. Their findings unequivocally confirm the severe decline of the tree and its immediate threat to the safety if those living at 59 and 57 Queensway. Position The subject sycamore tree stands to the left of the property at 59 Queensway, close to a frequently used garden shed and a potting station. The tree is positioned adjacent to an ancient thorn hedge. Surroundings Notably, the sycamore tree is in close proximity to the neighbouring land at 57 Queensway, which adds a layer of additional risk due to its overhanging branches. Condition Expert assessment by John from I&G Tree Care at 1 Shirley Avenue, SK8 3NT, conducted over the past four years, confirms that the sycamore is in a state of decline. Visible signs of decay are evident, manifested through weakened and frequently falling branches and a reduction in crown density. The tree's health has significantly deteriorated during this period. Ivy vines have encroached upon the trunk, covering a substantial portion of its surface. Impact The tree's declining health has led to a diminished canopy, falling dead branches, and imminent hazards from branches at risk of detachment. Over the past four years, these symptoms of decline have intensified, raising concerns about the overall safety of the tree. The thorn hedge is an important annual nesting habitat for diverse garden bird species (Blackbirds, Song Thrushes, Robins, Wrens). Falling branches could render the thorn hedge less appealing to local birds and increase the risk of nest failure or harm to the birds and their young. TPO 9W.

16 Gibsons Road Heaton Moor Stockport SK4 4JX

The tree is a large ash at the end of the garden of 16 Gibsons Road. It is identified under the TPO reference above. It can be seen from the street but access can be provided to take a closer look from the garden. The tree is a magnificent ash and a distinctive feature of the immediate area. However, it has outgrown the space and it has signs of ash dieback and may present a risk to nearby people and property. The tree dominates our garden and the gardens of our 5 closest neighbours who share our concerns. The branches are showing early signs of dieback. The larger lower branches are deeply dipping to a much lower level. In bad weather, any of these might fall and destroy the outbuildings and sheds directly underneath and damage any of the houses or harm people. We would like to be able to pollard the tree to the main trunk and split of three branches by removing the upper branches. This would allow it to generate new healthy growth that can be maintained at regular intervals. HAR/CA15, TPO 19N.

36 Nursery Road Heaton Norris Stockport Stockport SK4 2NE

Hi, we aim to remove the tree at the rear right hand side of the garden. We have just recently moved into the property and it is clear to us that when fully covered with leaves the tree covers the garden of light through the morning and early afternoon. The tree is also pushing our fence line at the back of the property. We would also like to direct a bike/shed/green house/vegetable patch at the rear of our garden.

136 Bramhall Moor Lane Hazel Grove Stockport SK7 5AU

Hi, My application is to prune and cut back,NOT to fell the tree. We have a number of dangerous over hanging branches that shed smaller branches when the weather is poor. Their are two main branches that needs sorting as a matter of urgency above the seating area, greenhouse and shed where children wish to play. Also we have excessive bird droppings. The tree is on developing woodland owned by Grade A Alternative and have given permission to make the tree safe. Also it has been confirmed that Stockport Council do not own this piece of land. This application has been advised by Mr Peter Pollard. TPO#: A1 - 210W

St Johns Church Of England Primary School Poplar Street Heaton Mersey Stockport SK4 3DG

We wish to cut down 35 very tall (15/20 metres) poplar trees, some of which are in danger of falling due to a hollow centre. They are positioned on the western perimiter of the school site. A report commissioned some years ago found that some of the trees would shed branches and some were likely to fall down completetely. Some branches have already fallen from these tree during high winds. The school building is close enough to the trees that falling branches could damage the fabric of the building. More importantly there is a significant danger to the children from falling branches. We have already planted trees between many of the poplars, which we hope will thrive when not having to fight as much for light and ground water. We have also planted over 700 sapling across the school grounds (with many more to come) and will continue with our Forest School to raise awareness of the importance and joys of nature with our children. 52 Devonshire Park Road Davenport Stockport SK2 6JW

(T1) Willow, fell. The tree is currently situated in the centre of the lawn and has excessively grown in size that it allows no daylight to the lawn and falling branches could prove hazardous to children and low amenity value. Some smaller branches have fallen but we feel that larger ones would prove to be highly dangerous. In addition, when it sheds its leaves it covers the lawn and is hazardous to pathways, making them slippery. Our plan would be to remove the Willow completely and plant 3 suitable trees at the rear of the garden adjacent e.g. a combination of either Cherry, Maple, Silver Birch, Oak, Hazel, Elder or Rowan. The garden area currently occupied by the tree would be returned to lawn. HAR/CA9, TPO#: 60E.
