Tree A - Silver Birch - removal of tree required as tree surgeon has confirmed that it is rotting from the top down due and will pose a danger if not removed. With young children, we do not want a fatality. HAR/CA21. Tree B (Fern) and Bush C (Holly) - we have recently received planning to extend the dwelling and as part of this work, we would like to landscape the garden. The fern and holly bush take up c.14 feet at the back of the garden and we are looking to remove these but replace them with new trees. The trees would be replaced with pleached holly trees (Nellie Stevens type). The fence is also rotten behind and will need replacing. The large Eucalyptus tree adjacent to the silver birch would remain but the crown reduced slightly as it is very high. A sketch idea of how the garden would look eventually is also included.

(1) Trees & bushes at front of house to be pruned including holly, laurel & yew to be pruned by 20%. (2) Front right: Fell dead tree that has been taken over & killed by ivy. After felling the dead tree, neighbouring laurel will be able to fill out and take the space. (3) Side right: Fell 2 dead trees killed by ivy. Felling dead trees will allow other neighbouring trees including plum to flourish. (4) Fell dead elm tree to right boundary. (5) Fell large laurel bushes at right of vestibule entrance that are a risk to the dwelling foundations. (4) and (5) will be replaced by the boundary privet hedge which will be allowed to grow more fully. (6) Fell 2 small conifer trees directly in front of house as these are blocking light to the dwelling and are a risk to the foundations. Not be be replaced as too close to house. (7) Fell Italian cypress tree at rear of house adjacent to kitchen. Tree is causing a risk to foundations of dwelling. Not to be directly replaced due to proximity to house. (8) Fell dead conifer at rear boundary. Unlikely to be replaced as very close to large laurel and sycamore trees. New Portuguese laurel hedge has additionally been planted along this boundary. (9) Prune large branch of sycamore tree which overhangs neighbour's garage. (10) Fell laburnum growing within yew tree. Will not be replaced to allow yew tree to grow fully. HAR/CA29.

Conifers: T1, T2, T3 Fell, (grown since Area TPO designation), low amenity value, incursion of roots into nearby drain, interference with vehicle movement on driveway and excessive shading. No replanting due to confined space in this area of garden and proximity to drain; Sycamore: T4 Fell, dead tree. Not to be replaced due to confined space in this area of the garden and proximity to drain; Lime: T5 crown lift to 5m above ground level and remove ivy from trunk and branches to reduce shading and enhance visual appearance of tree; Corsican Pine: T6 Fell to ground level, evidence of risk to adjacent dwelling through excessive leaning, ground swell around root system and possible root decay (evidenced by thinning branch structure to one side of tree at high level); Fir Tree: T7 Fell, poor specimen, (likely to have grown since TPO Area designation), not to be replaced due to lack of space and poor location under existing adjacent tree canopies Unknown specimen: T8 fell dead tree, not to be replaced due to lack of space and proximity of existing, healthier tree specimens; Sycamore: T9 Fell, poor specimen, (likely to have grown since TPO Area designation), growth and health impacted by presence of adjacent large oak (T10). Not to be replaced due to its location under canopy of oak (T10); Oak: T10, crown lift to 5m above ground level to reduce excessive shading over garden and adjacent dwelling and to improve visual appearance of tree; Hawthorn: T11, Fell to ground level because of severe decay to trunk and evidence of root decay and poor visual appearance. Not to be replaced due to proximity of adjacent healthier trees and the need for greater light into rear of dwelling; Cherry: T12, Crown lift to 3m to remove lower level branches that currently overhang flat roof and reduce light into rear of dwelling;Silver Birch; T13, Crown lift to 3m above ground level. Variation of Condition 15 of DC/070682 to read as follows:- No dwelling hereby approved shall be occupied until detailed drawings of the site entrance, access road and pedestrian walkways within the approved development, which shall include the following details, have been submitted to and approved in writing by the local planning authority:- (i) A general arrangement / layout, based on a topographical survey and to a scale not less than 1:500, showing the entrance, carriageway and footpaths; (ii) A general site layout, showing the proposed buildings and boundaries, together with existing and proposed levels and entrance visibility splays; (iii) Longitudinal sections along the centre line and channel lines of the proposed road and footpaths showing the existing ground level and proposed road / path levels; (iv) Typical highway cross-sections, showing a specification for the entrance, carriageway and footpaths; (v) Full details of the surface water drainage proposals (including details of the main drainage system and any sustainable urban drainage or attenuation systems); (vi) Details of all proposed street lighting (which should use wildlife appropriate luminaires, task specific lighting and include the height of columns/mounting), signage, markings, structures and street furniture. No part of the development shall be occupied (unless otherwise agreed in writing by the local planning authority) until the site entrance, access road and footpaths have been constructed in accordance with the approved drawings and are available for use. Any visibility splays formed shall thereafter be kept clear of any structure, object, plant or tree exceeding the height specified on the approved drawings.
