59 Queensway Heald Green Cheadle Stockport SK8 3ET
Works to a sycamore tree with a TPO. To formally request permission for the necessary tree works to be carried out on the sycamore tree located adjacent to the property at 59 Queensway. This application is made with careful consideration of the tree's protected status, concerns related to people's safety and the environmental impact. Given the situation's urgency, a certified arborist evaluated the tree's condition. Their findings unequivocally confirm the severe decline of the tree and its immediate threat to the safety if those living at 59 and 57 Queensway. Position The subject sycamore tree stands to the left of the property at 59 Queensway, close to a frequently used garden shed and a potting station. The tree is positioned adjacent to an ancient thorn hedge. Surroundings Notably, the sycamore tree is in close proximity to the neighbouring land at 57 Queensway, which adds a layer of additional risk due to its overhanging branches. Condition Expert assessment by John from I&G Tree Care at 1 Shirley Avenue, SK8 3NT, conducted over the past four years, confirms that the sycamore is in a state of decline. Visible signs of decay are evident, manifested through weakened and frequently falling branches and a reduction in crown density. The tree's health has significantly deteriorated during this period. Ivy vines have encroached upon the trunk, covering a substantial portion of its surface. Impact The tree's declining health has led to a diminished canopy, falling dead branches, and imminent hazards from branches at risk of detachment. Over the past four years, these symptoms of decline have intensified, raising concerns about the overall safety of the tree. The thorn hedge is an important annual nesting habitat for diverse garden bird species (Blackbirds, Song Thrushes, Robins, Wrens). Falling branches could render the thorn hedge less appealing to local birds and increase the risk of nest failure or harm to the birds and their young. TPO 9W.

16 Gibsons Road Heaton Moor Stockport SK4 4JX
The tree is a large ash at the end of the garden of 16 Gibsons Road. It is identified under the TPO reference above. It can be seen from the street but access can be provided to take a closer look from the garden. The tree is a magnificent ash and a distinctive feature of the immediate area. However, it has outgrown the space and it has signs of ash dieback and may present a risk to nearby people and property. The tree dominates our garden and the gardens of our 5 closest neighbours who share our concerns. The branches are showing early signs of dieback. The larger lower branches are deeply dipping to a much lower level. In bad weather, any of these might fall and destroy the outbuildings and sheds directly underneath and damage any of the houses or harm people. We would like to be able to pollard the tree to the main trunk and split of three branches by removing the upper branches. This would allow it to generate new healthy growth that can be maintained at regular intervals. HAR/CA15, TPO 19N.
