We have two mature Sweet Chestnut trees in our rear garden. One of which, (T3) is displaying signs of butt rot and has deteriorated since our request for removal a few years ago. You will see from the attached tree report, which was carried out before our building work commenced that it was in fair condition, however, it's condition has really declined over the past few years and has therefore become an even greater concern to us. We have recently had two tree surgeons round to asses and both strongly advised removal. It is a very large unhealthy tree and could potentially cause massive damage to both our property and neighbouring properties should it fall in bad weather. You will see from the images attached evidence of the rotting, along with the roots which are now above ground. In the additional photo you will also see that it really lacked in foliage last year which can be compared to T2. We urge you to consider once again the removal of this dying tree.

T1 - Turkey Oak: Remove. Extensive weeping from lessons on the stem indicates infection. Bark necrosis and large dead branches throughout the crown. Symptoms are consistent with Acute Oak Decline.

Tree: Sweet Chestnut (Tree 2 on sketch) Fell to ground due to poor health and honey fungus. The tree is overhanging electrical sub station, which if any substantial branches (which some are clearly dead) were to fall into the sub station could have a major impact on the local houses.

I would like to cut down the two oak trees (T1 and T2) that are now much too big for the garden in order to prevent significant changes in the ground and damaging the property. I am willing to plant two other tree elsewhere - perhaps with Surrey Heath's tree planting initiative - but the plot isn't large enough to plant replacement trees that won't interfere with the property. One of the trees (T2) grows precariously right on the edge of a ditch and we previously had permissions to fell it.

2 x Pines in back garden of 8 Brandon close. We???re applying to thin the canopy???s of both trees out by up to 30%. Cutting back to growth points. Canopy???s will be reduced in by up to 2 meters. Still keeping good shape. Main aim is to get more light into the garden. Plus to take weight out of the canopy.
