URGENT 5 DAY APPLICATION Please refer to document provide: Margaret House - recommended works. This former residential care home has now come back under the control and management of Hertfordshire County Council and unfortunately since the property has become vacant there have been a number of attempted break-ins and acts of vandalism. Therefore Herts CC are to install a number security cameras that will be monitored remotely. For this to be affective a certain amount of vegetation needs to be cut back/removed so that 360 vision can be gained throughout the site. Not all of Margaret house falls within the conservation area. I have highlighted in yellow (within the recommended works document) the trees that do. Also included within this document is the proposed works to some small hedges/shrubs that are regularly maintained and are under 2 meters in height but still need to be removed to allow full coverage by security cameras. I assume these do not come under Conservation area protection.

T1 - Upright Cherry: Reduce height by 1.5m. Reduce from neighbouring property to give 1m clearance then reduce on all aspects to balance shape. T2 - Upright Cherry: Reduce height by 1m and lateral crown spread max 0.5m to balance crown shape. T3 - Japanese Flowering Cherry: Reduce crown to previous (outermost) pruning points removing 1 to 2m branch length to clear building & balance crown shape. T6 - Wild Cherry: Reduce height & lateral crown spread by up to 1.5m. T9 - Yew: Reduce crown to previous (outermost) pruning points removing approximately 1m branch length. Proposed works are general arboricultural management to maintain trees at appropriate size considering the juxtaposition with the adjacent residential properties and public footway.

1x Oak standing in start of group A1, over garage to residential property. This has been reduced 5-7 years ago. Extensive damage to footpath around garage due to roots. Proposing to reduce side of oak over garage back to previous pruning points (1.5-2m reduction), to mitigate any risk of limb failure and reduce future root spread. Approximately 37 x Lombardi Poplar (standing approximately 20m tall), located in group A1. All were reduced approximately 5-7 years ago to approximately 65% of present height. Proposing to reduce height back to previous pruning points (6-7m reduction) as multiple trees stand over mobile homes and business buildings, with high footfall. Carrying out the work will help to prevent failure of regrowth. 5 x Lombardi Poplar (standing approximately 20m tall), located in group G1. All were reduced approximately 5-7 years ago to approximately 65% of present height. Proposing to reduce height back to previous pruning points (6-7m reduction) as multiple trees stand over road and carpark, with high footfall. Carrying out the work will help to prevent failure of regrowth Field Maple, located in group A1, proposing minor lateral pruning over residential garden in order to prevent encroachment towards building (approx 2m reduction)

T6 LAUREL GROUP (within G3 TPO Group) Crown encroachment to parking bays. Reduce lateral crown back to parking area boundary, to maintain suitable clearance for vehicle parking and obscured street lamp. G1, MATURE BEECH TREE GROUP, LOCATED ALONG SITE BOUNDARY (within G1 TPO Group) Crown encroachment & conflict with main building structures/roof line. Crown growth has potential to cause damage to roof line & guttering. Obstructing light to properties. Reduce lateral crown encroachment to property by 2-3M, to previous reduction points to maintain crown to a suitable clearance from the property block. To create suitable crown clearance between the tree line & property block/roofline. Improve ambient light to properties. T5. Silver Birch (located within G2 TPO Group) Ring Ivy infestation to group, remove dead material from within crown. Shorten overextended limb, overhanging garden of 8 Dickinson avenue, Croxley green, Rickmansworth, WD3 3EX, due to recent limb failure, works to minimise risk of further limb failure into residential garden.
