On the hard standing courtyard that forms the central part of the NAC site we want to erect a temporary marquee to enable activities to happen in a COVID-safe manner outdoors but under canvas for summer 2021 and in subsequent years. The activities are part of NAC's ongoing charitable mission to provide cultural opportunities for the community of Wolverhampton to enjoy a wide range of events, classes and exhibitions etc. This project has been supported by a wide range of partners who see it as an urgent and necessary response to the COVID-19 ongoing pandemic - these include: Arts Council England, Children In Need, The Paul Hamlyn Charitable Foundation and Wolverhampton City Council. The site is jointly owned by Wolverhampton City Council and City of Wolverhampton College. Both have been consulted about this development and are positive about its potential to contribute to the city's post-COVID recovery. The marquee will be in place between May - September 2021 and will be removed and stored onsite for the winter months. Activities planned for this temporary structure from May-September 2021 include: creative activities for children and families during the summer holidays; rehearsals for young people's creative groups such as Wolverhampton Music Service and Stagecoach Wolverhampton. Live events such as a children's theatre festival and one-day folk festival.
