We have taken the advice of a tree surgeon, Mr Tony Woods of Finchfield Trees, prior to this application. We have 2 trees that require cutting back, both of which are located in the back garden of our property. 1 - Blue Cedar - This is within 6 metres of the house and is now dominating the garden. We would like to trim the crown of the tree and reduce this by 15-20%. 2 - Conifer - This is within 3 metres of the house and is approximately 18 metres tall. We would like to reduce the height by 5-7 metres.

Cherry tree by court yard, reduce height by 1 - 1.5 metres: Holly tree by court yard, reduce height to same height as 'Cherry by court yard'; Cherry by rear patio - reduce back close to previous pruning points; Silver Birch in round border - reduce height by 4- 5 metres to bring in line with adjacent silver birch on garden boundary; Cherry tree adjacent to silver birch in round border - remove; row of trees along rear boundary (beech and conifer etc) reduce height to gutter level of neighbouring house (21 Ash Hill).

Conifer in centre of front boundary. Reduce in height by no more than 4 metres and prune branches extending beyond natural crown line toward house back into crown line. Reason(s)To provide clearance from property, and maintain at a suitable size for location.

Sycamore - Crown lift by removal of secondary branches only to provide 4 metres clearance over garden, Crown reduce 'bulging' side of tree back to general crown line (up to a maximum of 2 metres) and prune to provide 0.6 metres clearance form rugby club apparatus over boundary. Horse Chestnut - Crown lift in line with guttering on house (approx 4.5 metres), where drooping branches extend below the level of crown lifting they will be pruned back to next available and suitable pruning point as per BS 3998 (2010). Crown reduce on house side and neighbour's at 38 Windsor Gardens by no more than 2 metres, ensuring sufficient foliage is retained on the lowest primary lateral branches that extends towards the house at 37 Windsor Gardens.

T1 - London Plane - Root prune at the position noted in the photographs in Appendix 3 (see accompanying report). Pruning a 69mm diameter root, leaving a lateral 27mm diameter root, using a sharp saw. A 650mm depth root barrier should be installed at the point of pruning to prevent further ingress roots within the property particularly close to the house.

Cypress Conifer trees on left hand side of front boundary in front garden. Fell to clear overhang over foot path and allow more light to the front of the house

G1 - Hollies and conifers along front boundary - reduce to a height no lower then the adjacent street light; T1 - Poplar (Dead) on front boundary - Remove; T2 - Leaning copper beech tree in front garden - Fell; T3 - Cypress near secondary front gate that is leaning into adjacent conifer - fell; T4 - Poplar on boundary adjacent to north western elevation of house - cut back to previous pollard points T5 - Poplar on rear garden boundary - cut back to previous pollard points.

To remove the crown of one oak tree at 10 Balfour Crescent leaving 50% of the trunk, due to the centre of the trunk being hollowed out and being situated next to the house and over a conservatory, crown has grown to large for the supporting trunk, Ref 001 for location details.

06/00263/TPO (G1) - Horse Chestnut tree in the rear of the house (Numbered 1) has primary decay of honey fungus. A professional Tree Inspector has given a report and given the recent tree failures and lack of regrowth, the tree is in a severe state of decline. It has been recommended to have the tree removed for interests of safety.
