Works to trees in a Conservation Area: T1 - Self-sown triple stemmed Ash tree, approx 9m in height, very close to right hand boundary and growing through a prunus which we would like to preserve for its fruit. Works - Remove by felling at ground level T2 - Self-sown Ash tree similar in height, again very close to the boundary fence and the garden shed at the bottom of the garden. Roots pushing up paving, and potentially the foundation of the shed. Works - Remove and the stump either removed or poisoned.

T1 - Marsh Cypress - 10% crown reduction in rear garden. My landscaping contractor told me in January 2015 that CCC had consented to the removal of this tree and grinding out its stump. He told me that a CCC conservation officer with responsibility for archaeology had also visited the site, and had no objection to this proposal. Having obtained further expert advice, from a local tree specialist, I decided it would be far preferable to retain the tree. However, this would be possible only if I could obtain consent for a 10% crown reduction each year, to ensure no further increase in its spread and the extent of its root growth. This was necessary to meet insurance requirements, the tree being close to the long boundary wall, the river embankment, and the dwelling itself, all of which are listed Grade II. The crown reduction having been approved in advance on each occasion to date, the work has been carried out January/February every year. The tree has continued to grow vigorously, is well-shaped, and remains suitable in size for its environment. I now seek consent for a 10% crown reduction, to be carried out by the same local specialist. The work proposed would be done during January or February 2024, when the tree will have shed its foliage and become dormant.

Beech x 2 rear garden RHS - Crown Reduction. Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 3 metres and remove major deadwood greater than 25mm in diameter. All pruning cuts shall be made to suitable secondary growth points and shall maintain a stable platform for the expected re growth 18x12 down to 15x9m Tight included compression fork at 3m. Works to alleviate stress on weak union.T4. Holm Oak x 3 rear boundary - Crown Lift to provide 3 metres clearance from ground level 9x7m. Works to allow light under trees.T5. Yew rear garden LHS - Crown Reduction. Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres. All pruning cuts shall be made to suitable secondary growth points and shall maintain a stable platform for the expected re growth 10x9m down to 8x7m. Works to reshape tree following the failure of an adjacent tree and to clear neighbours shed and boundary wall.T6. Leyland Cypress rear garden LHS - Reduce height by approximately 3 metres and shape laterally as required 16x10 down to 13x8m. Works to allow light to rear of property.

Mixed species tree and shrubs group front and rear of the property. Himalayan Birch at the rear of the property. Reduce and shape by 1-1.25 metres all around to control size. Cotoneaster in the rear right hand corner of the garden. Reduce in height by 1 metre and shape on the shed side of the tree. Silver Birch on the rear right hand boundary. Reduce in height by 2 metres and prune side limbs to shape. Mixed hedge on the front right boundary of the property. Reduce in height by 1 metre and fell the Sycamore in the hedge to ground level to stop competition with the rest of the hedge. HAR/CA26, TPO 60W.

(T1) Catalpa - remove deadwood and raise low branches over road to approximately 5m and driveway 4m, targeting secondary points of pruning; (T2) Lime - thin crown by up to 10% foliage volume and raise low branches to approximately 3m above ground level, targeting secondary points of pruning; (T3) Magnolia - prune low branches to approximately 2m above ground level, selectively reduce side lateral branches targeting secondary points of pruning; (T4) Ash - remove moderate deadwood over garden and remove lowest branch over the wall and shed, back to source; (T5) Yew - hedge trim to previous template back to the boundary wall and (T6) Spruce - prune back branches that are growing through the phone lines.
